Learn how to create an amazing beautiful galaxy
twirl effect.
Step 1: Start off with a new 500x500px document, and fill the
background black, and go up to Filter->Render->Lens Flare (Settings: 50%,
Movie Prime) --Rememeber this option is in Photoshop CS only! Now place
your first lens flare in the bottom left, and keep going back up to Filter->Render->Lens
Flare and placing them all over till you have it like below.
Step 2: Now with that done, select your brush tool and select a
soft 65px brush, and click them all over like below.
Step 3: Now duplicate your layer (CTRL + J), and with the new layer
selected on top, go up to Filter->Blur->Radial Blur (Settings: 100, Zoom,
Best). With that done, go up to Image->Adjustments->Hue/Saturation (CTRL
+ U). When that window pops up, check the colorize box. Drag the sliders
around till you get a dark purplish like below, or you can choose your own color.
Step 4: Now set the top layers blending mode to "Overlay." And merge
the layer down by going to Layer->Merge Down (CTRL + E). Now duplicate the
layer again (CTRL + J), and go up to Filter->Distort->Twirl (Settings: 400).
You should now have something like below.
Step 5: Now put the top layers blending mode on "Lighten" and merge
the layer down again (CTRL + E). Now duplicate the layer again! And go up
to Filter->Blur->Radial Blur (Same Settings). Now go up to Filter->Sketch->Chrome
(Settings: 0,10). You should now have something like below.
Step 6: Now bust another Hue/Saturation (CTRL + U). I chose a dark
purple, like below.
Step 7: Now set the layers blending mode to "Color Dodge" and flatten
the image by going up to Layer->Flatten Image. Slap on some text and call
it good!
