Learn how to create a very cool aurora effect
using filters.|Step 1: Start off with a new 400 x 400 pixel
document, I created a gradient dark gray (#1f1f1f) to a dark pink (#702e42).
Step 2: Next, place three lens flares like below.
Filter > Render > Lens Flare (Movie Prime), this type of lens flare is only
available in CS and CS2.
Step 3: I than went up to Filter > Distort > Wave
and used the default settings, I got something like below, you will not get
the same results! But you can hit the randomnize button to try to get somewhat
close!
Step 4: I than duplicated the layer, and repeated
the Wave filter three times, you can do this just by hitting CTRL + F three
times.
Step 5: I than changed the blending mode to "Overlay"
and merged the layers together. Layer > Merge down.
Step 6: I duplicated the layer once again,
and repeated the Wave filter two more times.
Step 7: Now go up to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation,
Make sure you check the "Colorize" box (300 / 70 / 0), and hit OK.
Step 8: I than set the blending mode to "Screen"
and merged the layers together.
Step 9: I than duplicated the layer once again,
and went up to Filter > Blur > Radial Blur (Zoom, 100, Good). Than I went up
to Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen, and did this a total of three times. After all
that, repeat Radial Blur with the same settings one more time.
Step 10: Perform another Hue / Saturation, check
the colorize box, and mess the the values till you get a color you like, I used
(190, 70, 0). Once that is done, set the blending mode to "Linear Dodge" and
merge the layers. I than added a black border. |http://www.idesignthis.com/back/data/upimages/ntthumb.jpg|6||||||
