Learn how to create a very stylish 3d text
with a few layer styles and lighting effects.
Step 1: Start off with a new 400
x 400 px document, press "D" on your keyboard to reset your colors. White
background. Type out some text, I used the color "0068a3," and a font size of
250pt. Once you type out your text. Right click on the layer in your layers
pallete and select "Rasterize Type."
Step 2: Create a selection around the text by hold Ctrl and click on
the thumbnail icon of the layer in the layers pallete.
Step 3: With the selection still made, go to your channels pallete,
and create a new channel, select the new channel, and fill the selection
white. Deselect (Ctrl + D).
Step 4: Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur (10 px).
Step 5: Image > Adjustments > Levels. The settings below should give
you a crystal clear rounded effect on your text, just tweak it the settings
to get it perfect for yourself.
Step 6: Now hold Ctrl and click on the thumbnail icon of the layer your
working with to load the selection around the new text. Go back to the layers
pallete, delete the old text layer. Create a new layer, Fill it with any
color, the same blue is recommended. Deselect.
Step 7: Go back to the channels pallete, select the layer you were just
working with. Load a selection around the text. Filter > Blur > Gaussian
Blur (5px). Make sure you don't do it to much or to little, do it a few times
to get this effect.
Step 8: Inverse the selection to select everything outside of the text.
Select > Inverse (Ctrl + Shift + I). Select > Feather (2px) or Ctrl + Alt
+ D. Hit delete, and deselect.
Step 9: Go back to the layers pallete, select the layer you just made
with the text on it. Filter > Render > Lighting Effects.
Step 10: Add an outer glow, and an inner glow, and there you go!
